Gator wrastling... and other thoughts on nursing

"Alfred*, now you stop kicking around like that! I've been watching these fine young ladies take care of you and it sure does look like they are wrestling an alligator!" -unknown patient visitor

There are many patients and faces that I remember over my nursing career, but few things sum up what it looks like sometimes to be a neuro nurse. Flailing arms, legs, and teeth gnashing- It's certainly not pretty... and that's just the nurse, you should see the patient! :) Alright, maybe it's not that bad, but it sure feels like it. I do it because I love it. I'd do it for less, (don't tell my boss), but I do it because it's fun; full of creativity, lots of energy, and lots of stimulation... mentally and physically. Yup, I'm an alligator wrestler some days, and proud of it.
